THE FABRIC OF RESTRAP

Here at Restrap we use top-of-the-line fabrics and materials in the construction of all our products. We leave no stone unturned when it comes to sourcing the best materials available, because we know our bags need to be able to handle anything that’s thrown at them.

We’ve put together a quick breakdown of the fabrics we use across our bags, and why we use them.

Textured Nylon

We’ve pioneered the use of 1000D textured nylon in our bikepacking bags, which we’ve selected because of its toughness, abrasion resistance, and waterproof properties. This is our most used material that makes up the outers of most of our products, in particular the ones from our Bikepacking Range.

Textured Nylon has been proven to last, and is the main reason it's the main material we use across our range, and gives our products their distinctive look. It's completely waterproof too, which makes it such an ideal material for bikepacking gear.

X-Pac®

Made up from X-Pac® fabrics, which are derived from sailcloth technology, Our adventure race range is durable, resilient and lightweight. With it's distinctive diamond pattern, you'll find X21 fabrics across our Race Range, but also on our Frame Bags (used as the top section of the bag).

We chose this material because it’s designed to stand up to the elements, and that lets you ride in confidence through the worst weather. Xpac fabric is known for its high strength-to-weight ratio, which makes it an ideal choice for gear that needs to be lightweight and durable. This is covered in a DWR coating to ensure water runs off the bag, not into it. Being wipeable also makes it perfect for off-road riding too.

HYPALON

A rubberised fabric known for its exceptional resistance to abrasion, temperature extremes, and weathering, Hypalon is something of a wonder material which we’ve found to have a variety of interesting applications on the road.

Tear-resistant, strong and grippy, we use Hypalon in our Tyre Boot Kits and Fast Straps because it’s absolutely bomb-proof. You'll also find Hypalon dotted across our other products in the form of strapping, or where there's high amounts of wear (like on our Fork Bags), or where we need to add an extra layer of weather-proofing (such as on our Race Frame Bags).

TPU Coated Nylon

TPU Coated Nylon is mainly used across our Travel Range. A tough, hardwearing fabric made to our specifications, this material is used across our range because of it's bombproof durability, weatherproof capabilities and impenetrable water resistance.

A TPU coating gives this material a glossy finish, meaning when you put your kit through it's paces on the toughest terrain it'll easily wipe clean, ready for your next adventure.

PU coated Nylon

PU coated Nylon is a type of fabric that has been treated with polyurethane (PU) to make it waterproof and durable. The PU coating is applied to the surface of the nylon fibers, creating a barrier that prevents water from penetrating the fabric. We use PU coated Nylon for all of our linings and dry bags, due to it's lightweight and waterproof properties.

Unlike other bag manufacturers, all of our bags include a full internal lining that makes them strong and resistant to wear. We use orange linings so that it's easier for you to see and grab the things you need on the go.

We want you to be confident in our commitment to quality and reliability. These materials, alongside many more components and design features are chosen for their durability, resistance to the environment, and ability to withstand wear and tear, ensuring that our products are built to last and perform at their best in any situation. This is why all our products are sold with a Lifetime Warranty.
